Argonne Labs added to the site

The Argonne Laboratory Fire Department has recently been added to MABAS Division 10, expanding the regional emergency response network. The department operates from a single station located on the Argonne National Laboratory campus, which is situated just outside of Chicago. As one of the U.S. Department of Energy’s largest research facilities, Argonne employs over 1,250 scientists and engineers dedicated to tackling some of the nation's most pressing challenges in energy, the environment, and national security. The fire department consists of 25 career firefighters who are equipped with two ambulances, two fire engines, a heavy rescue squad, a brush unit, the MABAS Division 10 Decon Unit, and a command battalion. All suppression equipment is supplied by E-ONE, while the ambulances come from Wheeled Coach. A new ambulance, set to match Ambulance 114, is currently on order and will soon be added to the fleet. A recent upgrade to the Decon Unit included fresh paint, updated signage, and internal mechanical improvements, including a new generator. The unit is maintained by Argonne staff and deployed when needed for decontamination operations.
