Autodesk Flow To Connect Production Workflows, Shape Future of Media & Entertainment Industry

As the demand for high-quality content continues to rise, and production scales in complexity, managing data, workflows, and teams has become increasingly challenging. With thousands of artists working across departments and studios, each project involves countless shots, assets, and scenes. The tools they use often store data in different formats and locations, leading to fragmented workflows that slow down creativity and limit collaboration. But a major transformation is underway. Autodesk Flow is paving the way for a more connected, open, and efficient future in the Media & Entertainment industry. By unifying people, data, and workflows, we're unlocking new possibilities for innovation and artistic expression. At AU 2023, I’m excited to share how Autodesk Flow is redefining the way we work. It’s not just about managing files—it’s about managing data at the core of every creative process. Flow’s cloud-based data model, built on open APIs, structures all the information generated throughout the production pipeline. This allows teams to capture, reuse, and track data seamlessly, serving as the single source of truth for all assets, versions, and feedback. Whether it's an individual artist or an entire studio, everyone can work simultaneously, eliminating bottlenecks and accelerating progress. Imagine a world where no one has to wait for another team to finish before starting their part—where real-time collaboration becomes the norm. With Flow Capture (formerly Moxion) and Flow Production Tracking (formerly ShotGrid), we’re connecting on-set and post-production data into a unified system. This enables seamless asset management from the camera to final delivery. Supported by open standards, Flow integrates with existing tools like Maya, as well as third-party solutions from SideFX, Avid, and The Foundry, creating an open ecosystem where artists have everything they need right at their fingertips. Over time, Flow will connect the entire production pipeline, from pre-production to distribution. This means faster access to critical data, stronger connections between stages, and greater efficiency across the board. We’re also thinking ahead—especially for game development. Working with partners like Electronic Arts, we’re gaining insights into how to better manage complex projects, ensuring smoother workflows and more creative freedom for developers. AI is playing a key role in this evolution. By leveraging data in a connected environment, we’re unlocking new opportunities for automation and productivity. One example is AI-powered Generative Scheduling, which automates what used to be a time-consuming manual process. Instead of taking days, it now delivers results in minutes, helping teams plan more efficiently and respond quickly to changes. Another exciting development is our collaboration with Wonder Dynamics. We’ve developed a new Maya plug-in that allows artists to export CG characters directly into Wonder Studio, where AI automatically animates, lights, and composites them into live-action scenes. Artists can then bring those scenes back into Maya with full control over animation, lighting, and camera settings. This level of automation was once only possible for big studios with large budgets—but now, it’s accessible to all. Connected workflows and creative content are the future. Autodesk is driving change by bringing together data, teams, and studios across the entire production pipeline. By streamlining collaboration, we’re helping artists focus on what matters most: their art. At AU 2023, we’ll be sharing the full story of Autodesk Flow, showcasing how visionary studios are using our tools to bring stories to life with greater clarity and impact. From Walt Disney Animation Studios, who will give a sneak peek at the making of *Wish*, to many others, you’ll see how Flow is transforming the industry. Join us at the keynotes, theater sessions, and on-demand classes to explore the future of media and entertainment. **Safe Harbor Statement** This communication contains forward-looking statements regarding Autodesk AI and the Autodesk Design and Make Platform.
