The 14th Battalion on Chicago’s West Side got a call about a fire near the intersection of Pulaski and Ogden Avenues. Engine 38 and Truck 48 were first on scene around 5:44 AM and confirmed there was a fire. They immediately called for a Still & Box, which is a type of aerial ladder truck used for firefighting.
Battalion 14 arrived shortly after and reported heavy flames coming from a two-story commercial building that measured 50 feet wide by 125 feet long. By 6:21 AM and 6:23 AM, the 2-11 and 3-11 alarms were activated, bringing in more resources. Firefighters deployed six master streams and four hand lines to contain and extinguish the blaze.
At 8:02 AM, the 2-1-6 unit took over control of the 3-11 alarm. As of 11:30 AM, crews were still on site, working to locate hot spots and conduct a full overhaul of the structure. The building housed a music recording studio on the first floor and a banquet hall on the second — both now heavily damaged.
