While I was at O'Hare Airport (ORD) for the annual ARFF and Haz-Mat training, I had the chance to capture some of the rigs during downtime between exercises.
The 5-3-1 unit carries a Zumro tent, HVAC equipment for the Zumro, and decontamination gear, and is stationed at ORD Rescue Station 1. The 8-8-1A is currently based at the AMC building on the airport grounds. Meanwhile, 6-5-7S (a spare unit), Engine 9, and the new 2-7-8 were at the training facility practicing setting up the Zumro tent.
The 6-5-T is the training rig used for pit operations, and it’s a 1988 Oshkosh T-3000 crash truck.
2-9-8 serves as the training officer for ORD, and 2-9-12 is the coordinator for the live fire simulators.
