Box Alarm in Brookfield, 6/25/15

Yesterday afternoon, Brookfield responded to a box alarm at 3308 South Sunnyside Avenue. According to reports from first-in companies, there was heavy smoke visible coming from the attic of the structure. Firefighters initially attempted an aggressive interior attack, but due to worsening conditions, Command made the decision to pull crews out and transition to a defensive strategy. At that point, four hand lines were in operation, and Riverside's ladder truck was staged and prepared for action. Here's a quick summary of what unfolded based on the photos shared by Josh Boyajian: The fire was primarily located in the attic area, with flames breaching the roof at one point. Despite the challenging conditions, firefighters worked diligently to contain the blaze. The images capture moments of intense activity, including firefighters operating hoselines and working on the roof to control the situation. In addition to Josh Boyajian's photos, Code Photography also provided a series of compelling images capturing different angles of the fire. These photos show firefighters battling the flames both inside and outside the building. The fire appeared to have started on the second floor before spreading into the attic and ultimately causing significant damage to the roof structure. Below are some of the images shared by Code Photography, showcasing the efforts of the firefighters as they worked to bring the situation under control. These visuals provide a glimpse into the intensity and teamwork required during such incidents. --- Attached are several images that depict the scene during the fire: [Image Caption: Firefighters work to extinguish flames on the second floor while managing heavy smoke throughout the structure.] [Image Caption: Firefighters operate hoselines to combat the fire that has spread into the attic region.] [Image Caption: A firefighter is seen on the roof, likely assessing the structural integrity or assisting in directing water streams onto the fire.] [Image Caption: Another angle highlighting the collaborative effort among firefighters as they aim to suppress the flames and protect adjacent structures.] [Image Caption: Firefighters regroup after having worked tirelessly to manage the rapidly escalating situation.] These photos paint a vivid picture of the dedication and skill demonstrated by the Brookfield firefighters who responded to this emergency. Their swift actions undoubtedly helped mitigate further damage and ensured safety for all involved.
