Working fire in Chicago, 11-16-17

From Josh Boyajian: At around 11:16 PM on the 17th, Engine 7 responded to a structure fire in the attic at Barry and Long Streets. The initial attack teams tried to access the attic space to fight the flames directly, but had to retreat due to the overwhelming intensity of the fire. With the situation escalating quickly, the incident commander decided to switch to a defensive strategy for several critical minutes. A total of four lines were deployed to manage the raging fire. On-scene resources included Engine 7, Engine 68, Tower 58, Tender 23, Squad 2, Battalion Chief 7, Battalion Chief 8, and RIT team 2-7-2. Attached are some images captured by Josh Boyajian that document the intense firefighting efforts. You can see firefighters battling the flames with their hoses at night, Engine 7 standing ready at the scene, and the dramatic spread of fire through the roof of the home. The photos also capture the collaborative efforts of multiple units working together to contain the blaze. Despite the challenges, the Chicago Fire Department's quick response and coordinated actions helped prevent further spread of the fire.
