Autodesk’s Emma Stewart Honored with a Seat on the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB) Advisory Council

Emma Stewart is the head of Autodesk Sustainability Solutions, a team dedicated to making sustainable design accessible, insightful, and cost-effective for millions of engineers, architects, and designers who use Autodesk’s tools. Her mission is to empower professionals with the resources they need to create more environmentally responsible projects without compromising efficiency or innovation. EmmaStewart Throughout her time at Autodesk, Emma has played a key role in shaping the company’s sustainability initiatives. She launched the Sustainable Design Living Lab, which uses Autodesk’s own facilities to test and refine software that helps improve the environmental performance of existing buildings. In addition, she founded the Sustainable Operations program, which was recognized as best-in-class by the Carbon Disclosure Project. Emma also co-developed the Corporate Finance Approach to Climate-stabilizing Targets (C-FACT), an open-source methodology that supports businesses in setting science-based greenhouse gas reduction goals. We’re excited to share that Emma’s contributions have not gone unnoticed. She has recently been appointed to the Advisory Council of the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB), a leading organization that provides sustainability accounting standards for publicly traded companies in the U.S. This role allows her to help shape how companies disclose environmental and social impacts, ensuring that capital markets better understand and value sustainability. According to a recent report by CDP, 77% of S&P 500 companies are facing material risks from climate change, while 78% see it as a business opportunity. Moreover, 98% of cities identify climate change as a significant risk. As investors increasingly demand transparency on environmental, social, and governance (ESG) issues, the need for standardized reporting has never been greater. Currently, ESG information is often scattered across standalone reports and not integrated into SEC filings like the Form 10-K. This lack of consistency makes it hard for investors to compare and use this data effectively. That’s where SASB steps in. By developing industry-specific sustainability accounting standards for over 80 sectors, SASB ensures that companies can disclose material sustainability issues in a way that aligns with financial reporting requirements. These standards not only help companies comply with regulations but also support long-term value creation by focusing on the most impactful sustainability challenges. At Autodesk, we’re committed to helping organizations make sustainability easier and more effective. We offer a range of tools tailored for engineers, architects, and designers, as well as free public tools like C-FACT for Cities and C-FACT for Corporations. These resources provide scientific guidance to help cities and companies set meaningful climate targets and take action toward a more sustainable future.
