The final ruling on the anti-dumping case of hydrofluoric acid
The Anti-Dumping Administration under India's Ministry of Commerce and Industry recently announced its final decision regarding the sunset review of the anti-dumping duty on Chinese hydrofluoric acid, which was set to expire on March 25. The ruling confirmed that China’s exports of hydrofluoric acid continue to be dumped in the Indian market, with a calculated dumping margin of 21.22%.
The administration determined the normal value of Chinese products by comparing them to the cost of locally produced hydrofluoric acid. It concluded that the dumping has been ongoing and is causing significant harm to India’s domestic industry. During the investigation period, China’s exports of hydrofluoric acid surged nearly threefold, leading to a decline in market share and downward pressure on prices.
The damage caused to the Indian industry was quantified at 9.42% for bulk hydrofluoric acid and 8.23% for packed hydrofluoric acid. The report emphasized that if the anti-dumping duties are lifted, the continued dumping could result in even greater harm to local producers. This decision reinforces India’s commitment to protecting its domestic industries from unfair trade practices.
So far, no official response has been issued by Chinese companies or authorities regarding this ruling. The move is seen as part of India’s broader strategy to address unfair trade practices and safeguard its domestic manufacturing sector.
