The final ruling on the anti-dumping case of hydrofluoric acid
The Anti-Dumping Authority under India's Ministry of Commerce and Industry recently released a statement confirming its final decision on the expiry review of anti-dumping duties on Chinese hydrofluoric acid, which was set to expire on March 25. The ruling determined that Chinese imports of hydrofluoric acid continue to be sold at dumping margins, with the final calculation showing a dumping margin of 21.22%. This determination was based on comparing the normal value of Chinese products against the cost of similar Indian products.
During the investigation period, the volume of Chinese hydrofluoric acid exports to India increased nearly threefold, significantly impacting the domestic industry. The report highlighted that this surge in imports led to a loss of market share and downward pressure on prices, resulting in injury to Indian producers. The damage was quantified at 9.42% for bulk hydrofluoric acid and 8.23% for packed hydrofluoric acid.
The authority concluded that if the existing anti-dumping duties were removed, the continued dumping would likely cause further harm to the domestic industry. Therefore, the decision was made to maintain the duties to prevent such adverse effects. So far, no official response has been issued by Chinese companies or authorities regarding the ruling.
