1. High precision parts

Using the constant-speed cutting function of the CNC lathe, the best linear speed can be used to cut the end face so that the cut-out roughness is small and consistent. CNC lathes are also suitable for turning parts with different surface roughness requirements. Smaller areas can be achieved by reducing the feed rate, which is not possible on conventional lathes.

3. Parts with complex contours

The CNC lathe has an arc interpolation function, so the circular arc contour can be directly processed using an arc command. CNC lathes can also be machined to contour rotary parts consisting of arbitrary plane curves, which can both process the curves described by the equations and can also process list curves. If turning cylindrical parts and conical parts can use either traditional lathes or CNC lathes, turning CNC turning lathes can only use CNC lathes.

4. Parts with special thread types

The threads that traditional lathes can cut are quite limited. It can only process straight and taper surface male and female threads with equal pitches, and a lathe can only process several kinds of pitches. The CNC lathe can not only process any straight pitch, taper, male, female, and face threads, but also can process incremental pitch, reduced pitch, and threads that require a smooth transition between pitch and pitch. Spindle steering does not have to be alternated like a traditional lathe when machining a thread on a CNC lathe. It can be cycled with a knife and a knife until it is completed, so it is efficient in turning threads. CNC lathes are also equipped with precision thread cutting functions, coupled with the general use of carbide forming blades, and can use a higher speed, so turning out the thread with high precision, small surface roughness. It can be said that screw parts, including screws, are suitable for machining on CNC lathes.

5. Ultra-precision, ultra-low surface roughness parts

Disks, video recorder heads, laser printer facets, rotary drums for photocopiers, lenses and molds for optical devices such as cameras, and contact lenses require high profile accuracy and extremely low surface roughness values. For machining on high-precision, high-performance CNC lathes. Plastic astigmatism lenses, which were difficult to process in the past, can now be processed on CNC lathes. The precision of super-finishing can reach 0.1μm and the surface roughness can reach 0.02μm. The material of super-finished turning parts was previously mainly metal, and has now been expanded to plastics and ceramics.

3. Tool holder of CNC lathe

The tool holder is a very important part of the CNC lathe. According to its function, CNC lathes, the number of tools that can be installed on the tool holder—generally 8, 10, 12 or 16, and some CNC lathes can install more tools.

The structure of the tool holder is generally rotary type. The tool is installed on the tool holder in the circumferential direction and can be installed with radial turning tools, axial turning tools, drill bits, and boring tools. The turning center can also be equipped with axial cutters and radial cutters. The tool holders of a few CNC lathes are straight-lined and the cutters are installed along a straight line.
