"Asia's Best" does not give up any energy-saving star

In November, Henan Shenma Nylon Chemical Co., Ltd. achieved a major milestone by becoming an energy-efficient enterprise. This accomplishment was driven by the completion of a nitrous oxide treatment project that invested over 68 million yuan and entered the trial phase. As a result, all gases from the adipic acid plant are now safely managed, with the project reducing nitrous gas emissions by approximately 16,800 tons annually—equivalent to 4.8 million tons of carbon dioxide. In recent years, as Asia's largest producer of nylon 66 salt, the company has been committed to resource conservation, transforming waste and exhaust into valuable resources, and achieving significant energy-saving and emission-reduction results. The company consumes over 64,000 tons of coke yearly to produce hydrogen for various processes, but this process generates a large volume of analytical gas, which was previously released into the air, causing environmental pollution and energy waste. Although a recycling system was introduced, some "sky lanterns" still existed. Not content with this, the company invested 3.64 million yuan in March to install two 500KW generator sets that use the heat from the analytical gas to generate electricity. According to Wang Enjie, deputy director of the equipment and energy division, this initiative reduces carbon monoxide and methane emissions by 39 million cubic meters annually, produces 10.75 million kWh of electricity, and recycles 12,300 tons of low-pressure steam, generating economic benefits of 5.82 million yuan per year. Water conservation efforts also shine brightly. Previously, the company used tap water for cooling systems, but since July last year, it began using reclaimed water from municipal sewage treatment plants. Monthly usage reached about 100,000 tons, totaling over 1.5 million tons so far. This significantly reduced wastewater discharge and saved more than 1.3 million yuan in water costs. The second phase of the China Water Utilization Project is expected to be completed by the end of the year, increasing annual reclaimed water usage to 3.5 million tons and saving over 340 million yuan in water fees. Additionally, on August 30, the company optimized its circulating water system, saving 1,250 kWh per hour and 2,000 cubic meters of recycled water, potentially cutting electricity bills by over 5.6 million yuan annually. New energy-saving technologies have further enhanced the company’s performance. In the power plant, old screw-type chillers were replaced with lithium bromide refrigerators. These new units save 24 million kWh annually, reduce costs, and meet production needs after expansion. The project brings 6.94 million yuan in annual benefits and cuts Freon emissions by 2,400 kg. Additionally, the company improved its condensate recovery system, boosting efficiency by 550,000 yuan annually. They also replaced mechanical atomization oil guns with bubble atomizers, saving 60 tons of diesel and generating 300,000 yuan in economic benefits. Wang Liang, Deputy General Manager of Shenma Group, emphasized that the company has identified eight large-scale energy-saving projects this year, along with numerous smaller ones. By assigning tasks to teams, setting clear assessment standards, and applying economic responsibility systems, they have motivated employees through rewards and strict evaluations. These efforts have led to widespread implementation of energy-saving measures across the organization. To date, Shenma Nylon Company’s energy-saving and emission-reduction initiatives have generated an annual economic benefit of 17 million yuan. Creating a culture of energy efficiency is not only beneficial today but also vital for the long-term development of Asia’s largest nylon 66 salt production base.
