General knowledge of nickel metallurgy----Overview

Nickel plays an important role in the development of material civilization in the world. The time humans use nickel can be traced back to around 300 BC. As early as in the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period, China has already produced weapons containing nickel. Yunnan outputs an ancient "white copper", in relation to a high content containing nickel. In 1751, Swedish scientists Cronstadt for the first time to the preparation of metallic nickel. In 1825-----1826, Sweden began industrial production of nickel. At that time, due to technical conditions and other factors, nickel production has not been significantly developed for a long time. Until it was discovered that nickel was refined into alloy steel, the copper-nickel separation technology was developed and promoted, and the nickel industry developed rapidly, and the output also increased rapidly. In 1910, the world's nickel production was only 23,000 tons. By 2002, it had reached 1.175 million tons, and the consumption of nickel reached 1.047 million tons or more.

world nickel resources, the nickel sulphide mineral resources are nickel and nickel oxide, followed by nickel manganese nodules containing the main reservoir to the bottom of the deep sea. Relevant statistics show that by 1990, the amount of terrestrial nickel found in the world was 5,800 tons, and the base of 10,000 tons of reserves was 123 million tons. If the nickel resources of marine manganese nodules are estimated at the quasi-border margin, it is about 6.89 million tons. . Among the world's nickel reserves, nickel sulphide ore accounts for 30% to 40%, and nickel oxide ore accounts for 60% to 70%. Nickel reserves in the world's major nickel-producing countries are listed in Table 1.

(2) China Nickel Resources
There are more than 70 proven nickel mines in China, with a reserve of 8 million tons and a reserve base of 10 million tons, ranking 8th in the world. Among them, nickel sulfide ore accounts for 87% of the total reserves, and nickel oxide ore accounts for 13%. It is mainly published in 15 provinces and autonomous regions such as Gansu, Sichuan, Yunnan, Qinghai, Xinjiang and Shaanxi, of which Gansu has the most. The proven nickel reserves of Jinchuan Nickel Mine are 5.48 million tons, accounting for 9.1%, 7.5%, 5.2% and 4.5% of the national total reserves (Table 2). Jinchuan Nickel Mine is a high-grade nickel sulfide deposit that is rare in similar deposits in the world due to its concentrated nickel metal reserves and valuable rare elements.
