GE Technology Helps China Respond to New Demand for Natural Gas Development

CHINA, CHONGQING - April 2, 2013 - GE Waukesha gas engine has successfully powered the largest gas compressor of its kind in the country, and the project has been officially put into commercial operation in Chongqing gas field. Comparing with other gas compressors of the same grade, this device has a 3% increase in gas compression rate. As part of the nation's plan to build a large-scale natural gas storage facility, the project integrates the advantages of fuel flexibility, high efficiency, reliability and low emissions to help China's long-term growth strategy.

GE Waukesha 16V 275GL + gas engine, the output power of 4,835 horsepower, speed of 1000 rev / min. It serves a high-speed reciprocating compressor driven by a gas engine powered by China's first self-developed, +4,000 horsepower engine. This advanced compression technology has been applied to the compression station operated by PetroChina's Southwest Oil & Gas Company, which produces 2.8 million cubic meters of natural gas per day. Located in southwestern China, Chongqing is one of the largest natural gas production bases in the country.

The 3% increase in natural gas compression over the past 5-10 years is significant for piped natural gas. It can have a very large increase in the amount of compressed gas delivered. At the same time, the powered GE Waukesha 275GL + natural gas engine is environmentally friendly and helps to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Wuxia engines reduce over 1,900 metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions per year for engines of comparable power.

"The use of GE Waukesha gas engine technology not only increases the compressed natural gas delivery and delivery capacity, but also meets the demand for clean energy." CNPC JCH Power Plant Chengdu Compressor Plant Director Liu Hu said.

"With the successful installation and commercial operation of this gas engine, we expect this first compressor station of its kind to serve as a benchmark for future projects to help fuel the growing natural gas storage needs in China." GE Power Generation and Water Treatment Group Gas Engine Gas Compression Roger George, Global Sales Leader, said, "We are convinced that GE's gas engine technology is ideally suited to China's need for gas compression and that our technology will continue to play an important role as the field evolves."

The Chongqing project was strongly supported by the GE Waukesha (China) Dealer Service Center of DSM, which was established in Chongqing in 2008.

The GE Waukesha 275GL + Series Gas Engines are spark-ignition engines that drive natural gas compressors in storage, production and delivery. Compared with other similar products, the device has high fuel flexibility and low greenhouse gas emissions, and the overall energy efficiency can be increased by 2%. In addition to its first application in Chongqing, the technology is also widely used in other projects in China and globally (as in India).

In addition to driving gas compressors, GE Waukesha gas engines are part of the company's family of innovative distributed energy solutions that provide dependability to businesses and communities around the world, whether using in-line or off-grid utilization of different fuels Efficient electricity. The GE Distributed Energy product line also includes GE Aviation Gas Turbines and Clean Cycle Waste Heat Recovery solutions.

GE Waukesha gas engine is GE "ecomagination" a member of the product family. Products and services in the ecomagination family must all excel in enhancing economic value and protecting the environment. "Ecomagination" is GE's commitment to innovative solutions that maximize the use of resources, improve performance and make the world a better place.
