Microwave treatment of high concentration ammonia nitrogen wastewater costs low

On January 18th, the microwave treatment unit for high-concentration ammonia nitrogen industrial wastewater, jointly developed by Wuhan Mayflower Environmental Protection Technology Co., Ltd., Huazhong University of Science and Technology, and Wuhan Iron and Steel Group Co., Ltd., successfully passed expert evaluation. This innovative technology is expected to significantly reduce the high costs associated with treating ammonia-rich wastewater in key industries such as steelmaking, coking, chemicals, and pharmaceuticals across China. The system has already undergone pilot testing at WISCO's coking plant, where it demonstrated excellent performance. The treatment process was stable, and operational costs were notably low. According to tests conducted by the Hubei Provincial Environmental Protection Agency, the unit achieved a treatment efficiency of over 70% in removing high concentrations of ammonia nitrogen from coking wastewater. This breakthrough not only offers an efficient solution for industrial wastewater management but also represents a major step forward in environmental protection technology.
