Beijing's Asian Games Village New Car City Completed in May
The relocation of the Beijing Asian Games Village Auto Trading Market has recently made headlines. The new location, situated in Dongsanqi, Changping District, is currently under construction and is expected to have its main building fully completed by May. Although the exact date for the market’s relocation has not been officially announced, it is confirmed that the entire process will be completed within this year.
Since its establishment in 1995, the Beijing Asian Games Village Auto Trading Market has been located on the southern side of the bustling Asian Games Village business district. Covering over 70,000 square meters, the market has long held a significant share of the Beijing auto market, accounting for approximately 30% of the total trading volume. As a result, it has earned the reputation of being the "barometer" of the car market in the region.
Over the past eight years, Ya City has grown into a major hub, hosting more than 160 dealers of imported and domestic vehicles. It offers one-stop car purchasing services, making it convenient for consumers to complete all necessary procedures in one place.
This relocation comes as part of the broader plan for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. The current site of the Asian Games Village was designated as a construction area for the Olympic venues. After careful consideration, the new location has been chosen to be on the northern side of Tiantongyuan Residential Community and the eastern side of Litang Road. This area is also near Dongsanqi, which will soon become the terminal station of Metro Line 5.
The new site in Yacheng will span 300 acres, significantly larger than the previous location. In addition to maintaining existing functions, the new market will expand its offerings by adding areas for car beauty and decoration, professional test drive zones, an expanded auto parts market, a used car market, and pre-sales training programs. It will also feature a variety of cultural activities such as driving and car beauty lectures, aiming to deepen people's interest in cars and foster a stronger passion for automotive culture.
According to Su Hui, the general manager of the Asian Games Village Auto Trading Market, the goal is no longer just to serve car buyers but to cultivate a community of car enthusiasts through engaging events and educational content. The market aims to become a central hub for car lovers.
Meanwhile, the investment promotion process for the new market is progressing steadily. Most of the auto dealers from the old site are expected to relocate along with the market. Additionally, the newly added auto parts and used car markets have already begun formal investment campaigns, signaling a promising future for the rebranded and expanded venue.
