Area updates for new apparatus
Troy Fire Department has officially received their second Pierce Arrow XT engine, now sporting a fresh new paint scheme. This is Engine 2221, following the previous unit, Engine 2211. The updated design marks a visual evolution for the department’s fleet and signals a continued investment in modern firefighting equipment. Like Buffalo Grove, they've acquired an engine and a tower ladder. However, it seems Algonquin's units are much more advanced, with full feature packages that go beyond standard configurations. The first set of photos from the Ferrara plant have been released, showcasing both units in early stages of assembly. Algonquin also recently received a brand-new ambulance from Medtec earlier this spring, further upgrading their emergency response capabilities. The Countryside Fire Protection District, part of Lake County, is expecting a new Horton ambulance and a custom-built US Tank tender to arrive soon. Both units will feature the Arrow XT cab and chassis, but differ in body style—one will be a conventional pumper, similar to Engines 6 and 7, while the other will have a rescue-style configuration, akin to Engine 8, which was previously showcased online. Huntley Fire Department is preparing to receive a new IHC 4300 Type I ambulance from Medtec, enhancing their ability to provide high-quality patient care during emergencies. Highland Park Fire Department is currently in the early stages of planning for a new ambulance. Their current fleet consists of Type III units on E-Series Ford chassis, but the upcoming unit will be a Type I ambulance equipped with a Ford F-Series chassis, marking a significant shift in design and functionality.
