New ambulance for Oak Park

Hey everyone, I just wanted to share some updates on Oak Park Fire Department’s fleet. Dan McInerney sent me some photos and details about their new ambulance, 613. It's a 2012 Ford F-450 paired with a 2013 Medtec Type I unit, replacing the older 2003 Ford E-450 and 2004 Type III Wheeled Coach that previously served as 614. This change is significant because it marks a shift in how they equip their vehicles. Previously, all three ambulances at their downtown headquarters station were Type III units. Now, they’re diversifying with this new setup. The transition could be part of an effort to modernize their operations or adapt to specific needs. Here’s what caught my attention: the new 613 looks sleek and well-equipped. Dan’s photos really capture the details, like the fresh paint job and the updated interior. It seems like they’ve invested in something that can handle both standard calls and potentially more demanding situations. For context, Oak Park has been known for having a solid fleet, but this move feels like a strategic upgrade. They’re clearly prioritizing reliability and efficiency. Plus, it’s great to see them embracing newer technologies and designs in emergency response vehicles. Take a look at these photos. The first one shows the new rig in action, and the second gives a better view of its overall design. There’s also a third image that highlights some of the finer details—like how spacious and organized the interior is. Anyway, hope you find this interesting! It’s always exciting to see departments modernizing their fleets. Let me know if you have any thoughts or similar updates from your own departments. Stay safe out there! Dan’s pics really tell the story here.
