On-board optoelectronic pods are usually equipped with forward-looking infrared cameras, television cameras and laser pointers/distance meters and other photoelectric sensors. At present, aviation optoelectronic pods have become an important part of fighter precision strike systems. The 207-developed photoelectric pods are mainly installed on aircrafts such as aircrafts, airships, and drones. They can carry optical instruments such as TV cameras and infrared cameras, and perform large-scale and comprehensive video surveillance on the ground from high altitude. Detection and tracking to meet a wide range of needs such as security, reconnaissance, forest fire prevention, emergency rescue and disaster warning.

The product is specially developed in response to the needs of forest fire protection in the Changbai Mountain area. The forest coverage rate in Baishan City, Jilin Province, is 83%. The responsibility for forest fire prevention is heavy and the task is arduous. In order to solve the difficult problem of forest fire prevention monitoring, 207 specially developed photoelectric pod equipment use gyro closed-loop control to achieve visual axis stability, and have functions such as ring sweep, fan sweep, fast turn and automatic tracking, and all indexes are at the domestic advanced level. . When it is put into use, it will be the first time in the country to achieve long-term aerial defense of forest fire prevention, which is of pioneering significance. At present, the product has successfully completed the airship mounting test and performed well. It has been recognized by users.

In addition to forest fire protection, airborne optical (or infrared) pods are also widely used in the military. Since November 2013, the Japanese Self-Defense Forces aircraft broke into the East China Sea Air Defense Identification Zone without being notified. The country began to strengthen the procurement of reconnaissance and detection equipment, including ground-based early warning radars and airborne radar detection and tracking equipment.
