Chicago working fire 3-22-14

Here's a report from Eric Haak:

At around 10:45 AM on Saturday, units from the 23rd Battalion in Chicago were called to an apartment fire on the 7900 block of South St. Lawrence in the Chatham neighborhood on the South Side. Engine 122 was the first to arrive and reported light smoke coming from the third floor. The building's resident was outside and told firefighters that the fire was in a back bedroom. While the front of the building had only minimal smoke, the rear revealed a significant working fire. Firefighters quickly got water on the flames, and the situation was under control within minutes.

Eric Haak captured several powerful images from the scene, showing the intensity of the fire and the efforts of the responding crews. These photos give a clear view of the challenging conditions faced by the firefighters as they worked to contain the blaze.
