Hydraulic rotary actuators are compact units that generate very high torque in small spaces using hydraulic pressure. Bettens innovative sliding-spline operation technology converts linear piston motion into powerful shaft rotation. Each actuator consists of a housing and two moving parts: the central shaft and piston. The spline teeth on the shaft engage matching teeth on the piston's inner diameter, while a second set of splines on the piston's outer diameter meshes with the gear on the housing.
