The HSC model horizontal split case fire pump is a single-stage, double-suction centrifugal pump designed to transport pure water and liquids with physical and chemical properties similar to water. Pump Structure
HSC Centrifugal Double Suction Horizontal Split Case Pump 
1. Casing
The volute casing is split along the horizontal centerline with suction and discharge nozzles cast integrally with the pump casing. The upper casing is precisely located on the lower half using dowel pins. This allows inspection of the pump interior without disturbing pipe connections or alignment. Suction and discharge flanges have tapped holes for vacuum and pressure gauges, and drain plugs at the bottom.
2. Impeller
The impeller is statically balanced and fixed with muff nuts on both sides. Its axial position can be adjusted via the nuts, and axial force is balanced by the symmetrical blade arrangement. Any residual axial force is borne by the bearing at the shaft end.
3. Shaft
The pump shaft is supported by two single-row radial ball bearings mounted inside the bearing housing at both ends of the pump, lubricated with grease. A dual-suction seal ring reduces leakage at the impeller.
4. Seal Type
Gland seal or mechanical seal type is available.
 
Direction of Rotation
The horizontal large-volume double-suction axially split casing centrifugal pump rotates clockwise when viewed from the clutch. Counter-clockwise rotation can also be produced.
  
Materials
Irrigation pumps are generally made of cast iron, including pump casing, cover, impeller, seal ring, and shaft sleeve. The shaft is carbon steel. Custom materials like nodular cast iron, cast steel, bronze, and stainless steel can also be provided as required.

RFQ:
 
Only a portion of the mechanical power from the driver equipment is converted into centrifugal power and delivered to the liquid. The rest is lost. The reasons include:
1. Hydraulic loss: Caused by liquid impact, vortex, and friction within the pump. Impact and vortex losses occur due to changes in flow direction. Friction between the liquid and the pump passageways also contributes to this loss, which depends on the length, volume, shape, surface roughness, and flow speed of the passageway.
2. Volume loss: Results from leakage in the powered liquid. The general pump volume efficiency is 0.93–0.98%. Improving the seal ring and shaft seal construction can reduce this loss and increase volume efficiency.
3. Mechanical loss: Caused by friction between the liquid and the impeller plate surface, known as impeller disc friction loss, and friction in the packing, bearings, balancing parts, and other mechanical components during rotation.
