Siemens supplies compressors for China's largest ethylene plant

Siemens Power Generation Group will supply six compressors and three steam turbines for ethylene, the largest ethylene plant in China, Xinjiang Dushanzi. The production capacity of the device is 1 million tons of ethylene and 500,000 tons of propylene per year. It is mainly used for the production of raw materials for plastics processing. It is currently the largest of its kind in China and is expected to be completed and put into operation in the second half of 2008. The equipment provided by Siemens Power Generation Group to the Dushanzi Ethylene Project in Xinjiang, China, includes five horizontal split single-shaft compressors (STC-SH) and one vertical split compressor (STC-SV). The single-shaft compressor series can discharge up to 480,000 cubic meters per hour. These compressors will be produced and commissioned by the subsidiaries of Görlitz and Duisburg under the Siemens Power Generation Group. According to reports, these steam turbine-compressor assembly lines are used to compress feed gas, ethylene and propylene gases.

A person in charge of the Process Compressor Business Unit of Siemens Power Generation Group emphasized that this order once again shows that the company is continuously growing in the Chinese market. At the same time, it also proves that Siemens holds a solid position in the field of petrochemicals, especially in the area of ​​ultra-large petrochemical plants. In addition, the power generation group also benefited from the rapidly growing ethylene production industry in the world, and similar orders have reached 5 this year. In particular, the production capacity of ethylene and propylene in China is currently growing very fast. According to industry service agencies, by 2009 China's ethylene production capacity will reach more than 4.5 million tons, which will be more than four times the estimated output in 2006; the demand for propylene will reach 2.3 million tons in 2006-2009.
